Who we are (Controller)
Shire Web Design Ltd (t/a ScaleborneUK), Cholmondley House, Dee Hills Park, Chester, United Kingdom, CH3 5AR, Email: alex@scaleborne.org (“we/us”). We are the data controller for personal data processed via our website and in providing our Services.
What we collect
Identity & contact data: name, email, phone, company, billing details.
Project data: briefs, brand assets, feedback, content you provide.
Usage & technical data: IP address, device/browser info, analytics/cookies (see “Cookies”).
Payment data: processed by our payment processors; we receive limited tokenised/confirmation data.
How we get it
Directly from you (forms, email, calls), via our website, or from referrals/partners you authorise.
Why we use it (lawful bases)
Contract: to provide quotes, perform the Services, invoice, and support you.
Legitimate interests: to manage our business, prevent fraud, improve services, portfolio/showcase (where appropriate and not overridden by your interests).
Legal obligation: tax and accounting records.
Consent: optional marketing, non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Sharing
We share personal data with trusted processors, including:
Hosting/website & CRM tools: e.g., Wix (site), email/workspace tools;
Payment processors: e.g., [Stripe/PayPal/Wise—edit to what you actually use];
Freelance partners: vetted Scaleborne partners strictly for your project;
Professional advisers/insurers and authorities when legally required.
We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the UK (e.g., to US-based tools), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK IDTA/Addendum to the EU SCCs or an adequacy decision.
Retention
We keep client/project records for [6 years] (tax/contract) and routine correspondence for [24 months], unless a longer period is required by law or reasonably necessary to establish/defend legal claims. We keep portfolio copies only with your permission or as allowed by contract.
Your rights
You have rights under UK GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (particularly to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing). To exercise rights, contact alex@scaleborne.org.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). See ico.org.uk. We welcome the chance to resolve concerns first.
